ShruthiLayaLite: Carnatic Aide 3.2

ShruthiLayaLite is a mobile application designed to assist beginners in exploring Carnatic music, featuring both vocal and instrumental lessons. This free version is ad-supported and has a limited set of features compared to its full counterpart, ShruthiLaya.

The app aims to provide an accessible introduction to the foundational elements of Carnatic music. It includes basic lessons suited for novices learning various instruments such as the violin, flute, veena, and keyboard. Learners can practice with these lessons at different speeds and with adjustable pitch settings.

Among the highlights of ShruthiLayaLite are:

• A shruthi petti/tanpura range from note A (lower octave) to note B (upper octave)
• A traditional tala-based metronome that indicates dhrutham and anu-dhrutham
• A collection of two popular songs with swaram
• Access to two Adi Tala varnams, with the ability to play individual sections
• Reference material on over 900 raagas

However, users should note several restrictions inherent to the lite version:

• Only basic Varisai exercises (including sarali, jantai, daatu, melstaayi, and mandrastaayi) are playable; Alankarams, Geetham, Swarajathi, and Nottuswaram are not included.
• Only two Adi Tala varnams are available, whereas the full version offers 24 varnams.
• Advanced features, such as an optional metronome or enhanced Sruti/Tanpura options, are not present.
• No updates are provided for the lite version.
• The tempo/BPM for the tala-based metronome can only be adjusted in increments of 10.
